Level 1 Freediver POOL ONLY
Begin your freediving adventure before the arrival of warm weather with the FII Level 1 Freediver Pool Only Course! In just one exhilarating weekend, you’ll learn the foundational aspects of freediving, including safety and emergency procedures, essential breathing techniques, equalization methods, proper gear usage, and much more.
Through a balanced mix of classroom instruction and hands-on training in the pool, you’ll acquire the skills and knowledge needed to extend your breath-holding capabilities and gracefully explore depths on a single breath.
Course Details
- Prerequisites: Competent swimming skills and comfort in the water.
- Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 16 years old.
- Equipment Required: 3-5mm wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt, weights, and a waterproof timing device.
- Learning Materials: FII Level 1 Freediver manual and workbook (provided by the instructor at the start of the course).
Schedule
- Day 1: A 5-hour classroom session from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, where you’ll absorb fundamental knowledge and skills essential for excelling in the underwater realm on breath hold.
- Day 2: A pool training session from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, where you’ll put your newly learned skills to the test. This includes skills practice, safety training, emergency scenarios, and breath-holding exercises designed to challenge and improve your abilities.
Upon successful completion of this course and demonstration of required skills, individuals will be awarded the FII Level 1 Freediver Pool Only certification.
Opportunity to Earn the Full FII Level 1 Freediver Certification
Those holding the Pool Only certification will have the opportunity to achieve the complete FII Level 1 Freediver certification within one year of completion.

Level 1 Freediver, Weekend Course (Open Water)
Discover the world of freediving and experience the freedom of exploring the ocean on a single breath with the FII Level 1 Freediver course in Seattle, WA. This comprehensive course is designed to set the foundational skills needed for those who want to learn how to freedive safely and confidently.
Whether a complete beginner or an informally trained freediver/spearfisherman with years of experience, this course will set you on the right path to eliminate bad habits and show you the most efficient and safe freedive techniques. This course is the quickest way to become a Level 1 certified diver.
Over the course of two full days of training, you will learn the fundamentals of freediving, including safety and emergency procedures, breathing techniques, equalization methods, and more. Through a combination of classroom sessions, confined water training, and an open water freedive session, you will develop the skills and knowledge needed to extend your breath-hold times and dive to depths of up to 66 feet (20 meters) on a single breath.
Schedule:
- 1st day: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Classroom and Confined Water Training
- 2nd day: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Open Water Session and Exam

Enrollment: Receipt of the deposit secures your spot, with the remaining balance due prior to the first day of class.
Equipment Required: 7mm wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt, weights, and a waterproof timing device.

Open Water Freedive Coaching Session
The Open Water Freediving Session is perfect for certified divers looking to train on the line or those working towards certification who want to finish their skills and achieve the FII Level 1 certificate. It is also a great way to meet new people, build confidence, and perfect technique in a safe and supportive environment.
A certified instructor or assistant instructor will be present during the session to answer any questions and provide assistance and coaching as needed, so you can relax and enjoy your dive to the fullest. These sessions offer a great opportunity to refine skills and gain valuable experience in an encouraging setting.
Session requires a minimum of two participants to run.
Prerequisites:
Have completed an FII Level 1 course but are still working towards certification.
OR, hold a freediving certification from any recognized freedive agency.
